Job summary

Fireclay Partners is seeking an Operating Partner in Transportation and Logistics for per-engagement consulting across North American deals. Candidates bring senior operating experience and deep sector knowledge to sourcing, diligence, and sponsor engagement.

Engagements run three to twelve months; remote-friendly in the US or Canada; compensation is on a 1099/per-deal basis with flexible hours and potential equity. Travel minimal, deal-driven work expected.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of sector experience across multiple modes/geographies.
• FMCSA authority, safety ratings, CSA scores, HOS/ELD knowledge.
• Understanding of owner-operator and carrier/broker structures.

Responsibilities

• Provide market intelligence on bolt-on targets and competition.
• Facilitate introductions to founders and senior executives in your network.
• Review CIMs and management presentations for operating fit and risk.
• Assess target contracts, safety/compliance, capacity and equipment.
• Differentiate contracted vs spot revenue and test revenue quality.
• Support sponsor pitches with subsector and operating background.
• Provide operational due diligence input on target companies.
• Advise on positioning for sponsor outreach and sourcing campaigns.
