Job summary

DRMP is seeking a Senior Transportation Lighting Engineer, PE, to join the Orlando team. Lead roadway lighting design, perform analyses, and develop construction docs for energy-efficient solutions on transportation projects.

Ideal candidate brings 8+ years of relevant experience, PE license, and strong collaboration skills to mentor junior engineers and coordinate with clients and utilities in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 8+ years of transportation, roadway, infrastructure, or lighting engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of lighting design principles and applicable electrical codes and standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and analysis of roadway lighting systems.
• Develop construction plans, specifications, engineer’s estimates, technical reports, and supporting documentation.
• Perform lighting calculations, voltage drop analyses, and lighting justification reports.
• Design lighting systems for roadways, interchanges, bridges, site areas, and other transportation infrastructure.
• Coordinate with clients, utility companies, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable FDOT standards, NEC, NESC, and other applicable codes and design criteria.
• Evaluate and recommend innovative, sustainable, and energy-efficient lighting solutions.
• Support project managers with technical leadership, quality control, and project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and developing engineers.
• Participate in client coordination and contribute to the continued growth of DRMP’s transportation lighting practice.
