Job summary

SLR Consulting is seeking a Principal level Transportation Engineer or Planner in New Haven, CT to lead its CAMP team. You will guide private development/traffic impact work, public-sector mobility planning, and safe streets initiatives while growing client relationships and pursuing new opportunities.

You will manage projects, staff, and budgets, collaborating across disciplines and contributing to business development. Hybrid or in-person work, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Transportation Engineering or Planning or related field.
• 15+ years of professional experience in transportation engineering or planning.
• Professional Engineer license or transportation-focused certification (PTP, PTOE, RSP).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with local, state, and federal guidelines/standards, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Drive business development, win work, and identify future opportunities.
• Manage client relationships and project outcomes across disciplines.
• Lead public speaking and presentation efforts with clear, persuasive communication.
• Oversee staff and project budgets; ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Prepare proposals and responses to RFPs/RFQs.
