Job summary

The National Academies is seeking a Senior Program Officer in Transportation Law to lead committees, manage programs, and develop new topic areas. You will coordinate with TRB teams, sponsor groups, and external partners to advance legal and policy research in transportation law.

The role requires a Master’s degree (JD preferred) and at least six years in legal research, policy, or transportation law, with strong communication and teamwork skills. Hybrid work with occasional travel is offered.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field required; JD preferred.
• Six years of experience in legal research, regulatory policy, or transportation law.
• Ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Experience collaborating with civil engineering, policy and planning teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead committees and develop TRB sessions, webinars, and workshops.
• Coordinate with committees and other divisions and CRP.
• Organize Annual Workshop on Transportation Law.
• Provide staff support and supervise program staff.
• Develop new topics and program areas.
• Travel to state departments and sponsor locations.
