Job summary

Clayton County is seeking an Engineering Tech IV in Transportation and Development to support road construction, traffic, and surveys. You will provide field support to engineers and supervisors, collect traffic data, and prepare drawings and project layouts.

Requires a high school diploma or GED with a technical college certification plus four years of hands-on experience (eight years with PM). Valid GA driver’s license required; flagswork/work-zone certs preferred. Mon-Fri 7:30am-4:30pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with a technical college certification and four years of related experience, or eight years with two years of project management experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license; preferred certifications include Flagman and Work-Zone Traffic Control Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation of road and parking line markings per MUTCD.
• Fabricate signs and maintain inventory.
• Design intermediate signs using computer drafting.
• Install signs according to MUTCD.
• Perform field traffic data collection (volume, speed, delay).
• Conduct GIS data collection and updates.
• Assist with basic signal operation troubleshooting remotely from TCC.
• Support TCC operations: cameras and VMS.
• Assist with utility permits and daily Utility Section operations.
• Assist with Call before you dig compliance and utility marking.
• Prepare intermediate drawings for projects using drafting equipment.
• Perform intermediate survey tasks and surveys.
