Job summary

Clayton County in Georgia seeks a Fleet Technician IV to maintain and repair a broad range of county vehicles and heavy equipment. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and conduct engine, transmission, and electrical work per industry standards. Welding and field repairs are also part of the role.

Responsibilities include ordering parts, managing service logs, and assisting in training co-workers as needed. A CDL and ASE certifications are favored.

Qualifications

• Must have strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret operator complaints.
• Ability to follow precise directions and maintain attention to detail.
• Demonstrated capability to perform preventive maintenance and complex diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and service on a variety of County vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose vehicle problems using advanced diagnostic equipment and repair or replace parts as needed.
• Perform welding on automotive and vehicle body parts and fabricate metal parts as needed.
• Prepare maintenance reports and logs, and enter data into the department’s system.
