Claytoncountyga is seeking an Engineering Technician III to support engineering projects in transportation and development. The role involves moderate-level technical skills and responsibilities including installing traffic signs, performing data collection, and assisting with traffic studies.
Ideal candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Georgia driver’s license, and preferably certification as a Flagman. Physical demands may include lifting moderately heavy objects and working in various environmental conditions.

CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Engineering Technician III
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
Performs moderate-level skilled technical work and manual labor. Provides field support to supervisors, other engineering technicians, and engineers on road construction, road design/survey, and traffic engineering projects. Work requires familiarity with engineering specifications, construction standards, or department procedures as they relate to assigned duties. At times, must be able to work independently in applying these rules and procedures to a variety of work situations and problems. Work is performed under the general direction of a lead worker, direct supervisor, or engineer who frequently monitors and inspects work while in progress and upon completion.
High School Diploma or GED; completion of a certificate program at a Technical college in a related field; supplemented by two (2) years of experience using hand tools, general construction; or High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by six (6) years of experience using hand tools, general construction; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Preferred candidate would hold certification as a Flagman.
Tasks require the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and that generally involves lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, humidity, rain, temperatures, noise extremes, wetness, machinery, and vibrations or traffic hazards.
