Job summary

Walsh Group in Dallas, TX is seeking a Senior Estimator for the Transportation division to develop accurate proposals and estimates for complex projects. You will lead bid packages, coordinate with subcontractors, review bid documents, and support the project team ensuring competitive, timely bids while meeting company standards and diversity requirements.

Travel to regional bids is required; you will engage with a team of estimators and leverage established estimating tools to deliver

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in estimating or related roles.
• Knowledge of construction means, methods, costs, and engineering principles.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.
• Strong bid and cost analysis capabilities.
• Understanding of subcontractor quotations and negotiation.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Some travel required for regional bids.

Responsibilities

• Reviews project plans and requirements to build scope, labor, and equipment costs.
• Prepares quantity takeoffs and pricing via self-perform or unit-price estimating.
• Reads bid documents and material requirements for constructability.
• Solicits subcontractors and discusses detailed work scope.
• Prepares bid packages and analyzes subcontractor/supplier bids.
• Assesses subcontractor bonding, workload, and past performance.
• Prepares estimates for multiple delivery systems and reviews with the PM team.
• Assists with post-bid buyouts.
• Participates in meet and greet presentations with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Understands diversity requirements in contracts.
