Job summary

W-Trans is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer or Planner based in the SF Bay Area or Sacramento to lead and manage transportation projects, including EIRs, TIAs, and Specific Plans. The role blends technical expertise with client relations and public stakeholder engagement.

You will mentor staff, collaborate with partners, and help deliver sustainable, multi-modal solutions while balancing project needs with work-life flexibility, including a hybrid schedule and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or planning with transportation emphasis.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to perform site visits and attend public hearings.
• Minimum of ten years of professional experience in traffic operations and transportation planning.
• Strong familiarity with TIA Guidelines, Caltrans, HCM, VMT, Trip and Parking Generation, Site Design, and Active Transportation standards.
• Experience managing transportation studies and CEQA transportation assessments; proposal writing and client engagement.
• Excellent writing and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage transportation projects (EIRs, TIAs, on-call contracts, Specific Plans).
• Mentor staff and coordinate with clients, partners, and public agencies.
• Engage in public meetings, presentations, and workshop facilitation.
• Develop creative, tailored technical solutions and manage project budgets and schedules.
