Job summary

Brighton Solutions, Inc. seeks a Senior Civil Engineer – Transportation to join its engineering leadership team in Illinois, with a defined path to advance into the Chief Civil Engineer role over an 18-month transition.

You will progressively assume greater responsibility for technical oversight, engineering operations, project delivery, client relationships, and team leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in roadway engineering, transportation infrastructure, and Phase I/II

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Illinois licensure preferred; eligible to obtain IL license if licensed in another state.
• Significant experience in civil/transportation engineering with responsibility for complex roadway/rail projects.
• Strong knowledge of Phase I and Phase II engineering, including studies, reports, design, plans, specs, and cost estimates.
• Experience with roadway improvements, transportation infrastructure design, and adherence to standards.
• Proven ability to lead projects, coordinate teams, and manage deliverables.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and client-management skills.
• Interest in advancing to senior technical and engineering leadership.
• Experience with IDOT projects and Illinois roadway standards is a plus.
• Established relationships with transportation agencies and infrastructure clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil and transportation projects with emphasis on roadway and rail infrastructure.
• Manage Phase I and Phase II projects from studies to plans and estimates.
• Provide technical leadership in roadway alignment, traffic studies, drainage, and infrastructure design.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Engage with agencies, municipalities, railroads, and clients.
• Oversee schedules, budgets, resources, and quality of deliverables.
• Review designs and calculations for standards compliance.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations, and business development.
• Collaborate with Chief Civil Engineer during leadership transition.
