Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering seeks a Senior Project Manager for Transportation Design in Houston to lead roadway and bridge design, manage schedules and budgets, and cultivate owner and contractor relations.

The role includes business development, fee negotiations, contract reviews, and strategic planning for transportation projects, with a focus on managing multiple projects and ensuring quality across all phases.

Qualifications

• Capabilities should include knowledge of roadway, drainage and structures design and familiarity with software used to perform preliminary and final design and to prepare PS&E documents for urban & rural freeways, toll roads, FM & SH roads, County roads and city streets.
• Must have 10-15 years of design and design management experience on transportation projects including PS&E.
• TxDOT pre-certification in Roadway Design, Drainage Design, Structures categories; pre-certification in other categories a plus.
• Familiarity with TxDOT Roadway Design Manual and Hydraulic Design Manual, City of Houston design criteria, Harris County design criteria, and Harris County Flood Control District design criteria.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with a team.

Responsibilities

• Ensure standardized project setup and CAD adherence.
• Review contract drawings and specifications for constructability and quality.

• Identify potential new staff hires.
• Promote a harmonious office environment.
• Identify marketing pursuits with Design PMs and TxDOT Practice Leader.
• Develop relationships with client staff.
• Prepare scope of work and fee proposals for assigned projects.
• Prepare sub-consultant agreements.
• Assist with annual Business Plan.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

• Identify marketing pursuits with assistance of Design PMs & TxDOT Practice Leader

• Prepare scope of work & fee proposals for assigned
• Prepare sub-consultant agreements

Authority

• Assign work to staff that report to him.
• Approve time sheets, PTO, Expense Reports
• Prepare Performance Evaluations for direct report staff
• Recommend end-of-year salary adjustments, bonuses & promotions
• Recommend to the president hiring of new staff and termination of existing staff
  
  

Physical Demands

This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. During fieldwork, the engineer may be exposed to different environments with loud noise, dust, dirt, changing temperatures, and must be able to move skillfully around construction sites.

Expected Hours of Work

The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule; some night and weekend work may be required.
