Job summary

Duke Energy's Substation Engineering team in Raleigh, NC seeks an engineer to design high-voltage substations from concept to release. You will prepare layouts, one-lines, foundations and electrical designs for projects up to 500 kV, coordinating with project managers to meet schedules and budgets.

Responsibilities include performing engineering analyses, creating detailed design packages, and mentoring junior engineers while ensuring compliance with IEEE, NESC, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Engineering or state PE.
• Master's degree can substitute for BS.
• PE licensure required for Senior level (or equivalent).
• Minimum years of relevant engineering experience (4 for Engineer III, 5+ for Senior).
• Experience in electric utility substation design is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering/technical expertise in transmission substation design.
• Develop detailed layouts, one-lines, structure foundations and electrical designs.
• Prepare design packages, calculations and drawings for construction.
• Coordinate with Project Managers to meet schedules and budgets.
• Support field personnel during project implementation and provide on-site assistance.
