Job summary

NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP, an Avangrid Company, seeks a Lead Engineer – Transmission Planning in Orange, CT. The role entails leading reliability and economic studies on transmission systems, applying planning criteria, and coordinating with NPCC/ISO stakeholders.

You will use PSSE, TARA, ASPEN, and Enfuzion to analyze studies and present results. The position requires a BSEE and 7+ years of experience, with the option for advanced degrees or certifications.

Qualifications

• BSEE required; advanced degrees or certifications considered (e.g., MSEE, PE).
• 7+ years of experience (Industry Related).
• Knowledge of regulatory and compliance environment: Local, State and Federal standards (NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC).
• Engineering documentation: ability to document and interpret engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Influence and guide department engineers with technical leadership.
• Provide technical leadership in complex projects with wide impact.
• Mentor, develop and support team in technical skills.
• Collaborate across departments; liaise with contractors on policy, standards, and best practices.
• Work independently with little supervision.
