Job summary
Xcel Energy Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Transmission Production Cost Modeling Analyst to support long-range electric transmission planning, regulatory filings, and cost modeling.
The role emphasizes developing production cost and transmission models, participating in regulatory testimony, and collaborating with external planning organizations to optimize delivery of energy across multiple states. A hybrid work model is supported, with onsite expectations varying by role and team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or higher in systems/electrical engineering, economics, mathematics, physics, quantitative analysis, business or related discipline.
- At least 8 years of experience, including 5 years with wholesale energy markets using financial tools/production simulation software.
- Strong quantitative and software knowledge for analyses.
Responsibilities
- Develop energy market forecasts for transmission development and regulatory filings.
- Prepare forecasts of system impacts to congestion and curtailment.
- Engage with external models (MISO, SPP) to verify model accuracy and identify projects.
- Perform electric transmission modeling analyses from a risk management perspective.
- Provide reponses to regulatory information requests and support congestion mitigation.
