Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to design, analyze, and execute high-voltage transmission projects ranging from 69kV to 765kV. The role involves collaboration with utility clients, project managers, civil/structural engineers, survey teams, and permitting bodies.

A remote-friendly position supports projects across North America. The candidate will lead complex designs, apply regulatory standards, conduct QA/QC, and mentor junior engineers while delivering cost-effective,

Qualifications

• 7+ years of detailed engineering and design experience for overhead transmission lines.
• Lead and oversee complex transmission line designs from conceptual through final design.
• Provide senior-level technical direction to design staff for accuracy and best practices.
• Perform studies such as conductor sizing, impedance, losses, and voltage drop per standards.
• Interpret regulatory requirements including NERC, FERC, and regional standards.
• Prepare and review specifications, data sheets, RFQs, bid evaluations, vendor drawings and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Design overhead and/or underground transmission lines from 69kV to 765kV.
• Collaborate with utility clients, project managers, civil/structural engineers, survey teams, and permitting bodies.
• Develop cost-effective transmission solutions and reliable designs.
• Lead field inspections, measurements, and installation reviews for clients.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure cross-disciplinary communication and safety standards.
