Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior transmission design engineer in the Cary, NC area to design transmission lines from 69kV through 500kV and mentor a design team. The role emphasizes client-facing work, adherence to industry standards, and the use of PLS-CADD and related tools.

Qualified candidates will have an ABET-accredited engineering degree, 12+ years of experience, and a strong background in engineering standards and drawings review.

Qualifications

• BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 12+ years of transmission design experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience includes scopes of work, conceptual designs, design basis, equipment/material selection, and calculations/specifications.
• Experience working with clients on 69kV–500kV transmission lines.
• Knowledge of NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI.
• Experience reviewing design drawings.
• PE license (preferred)
• PMP certification (preferred)
• Construction experience (preferred)
• ArcGIS familiarity (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines 69kV to 500kV.
• Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations meet specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information that meet client requirements and S&L formats.
• Perform independent reviews of work including calculations, drawings and PLS-CADD models.
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy\'s System of Processes.
