Description

We are seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer who will work as a member of a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, solving challenging problems involved with electric transmission.

The successful candidate will serve as an engineer on electric transmission line design projects for high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead and underground systems for some of the largest utilities in the country.

This individual will apply NESC, ASCE, ACI, and other applicable standards in the engineering and design of electrical overhead and underground systems, voltage conversion projects, new capacity projects, and infrastructure replacement projects. Responsibilities include performing engineering analyses, preparing bidding documents, drafting plans and specifications, and preparing material procurement and construction documents. This role involves working with a multi-disciplinary Leidos team and interfacing with clients, project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management personnel.

Work Location: The position is remote, but the successful candidate must reside in Michigan and be willing to travel to site visits. Ideal locations include:

• Grand Rapids
• Mt Pleasant/Big Rapids
• Muskegon
• Lansing
• Jackson
• Kalamazoo

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and at least four (4) years of relevant experience in electric utility transmission system design
• Experience reviewing full transmission line designs, including PLS-CADD models, foundations, materials, plans, profiles, and construction packages
• Knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, and ASCE code requirements; construction specifications; material procurement; project scheduling; and construction work packages
• Ability to develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals
• Effective team collaboration skills and ability to work independently
• Proven communication skills with clients and project teams
• Leadership experience and supervisory capabilities (required for Senior and SME levels)
• Willingness to work in client offices and travel periodically
• Program expertise in:
• PLS-CADD and POLE
• LPILE or FAD tools
• Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Experience and Certifications:

• EIT, FE, or PE license
• Experience with:
• PLS TOWER
• Bentley MicroStation
• Bentley ProjectWise
• Mathcad
• Autodesk AutoCAD
• Construction management and support experience
