Description

We are seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer who will work as a member of a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, solving challenging problems related to electric transmission.

The successful candidate will serve as an Engineer on electric transmission line design projects for high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead and underground systems for some of the largest utilities in the country.

This person will apply NESC, ASCE, ACI, and other applicable standards in the engineering and design of electrical overhead and underground systems, voltage conversion projects, new capacity projects, and infrastructure replacement projects. Responsibilities include performing engineering analyses, preparing bidding documents, drafting plans and specifications, and developing material procurement and construction documents. The role involves collaboration with a multi-person Leidos team and interfacing with clients, project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management personnel.

Work Location: This position is remote; the successful candidate must reside in Michigan and be willing to visit sites. Ideal locations include:

  • Grand Rapids
  • Mt Pleasant/Big Rapids
  • Muskegon
  • Lansing
  • Jackson
  • Kalamazoo

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and at least four (4) years of relevant experience in electric utility transmission system design
  • Experience reviewing full transmission line designs, including PLS-CADD models, foundations, materials, plans, profiles, and construction packages
  • Knowledge of NESC, ACI, AISC, ASCE code requirements; construction specifications; material procurement; project scheduling; and construction work packages
  • Ability to develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals
  • Effective team collaboration and independent work skills
  • Strong communication skills with clients and project teams
  • Leadership experience and supervisory skills (required for Senior and SME levels)
  • Willingness to travel and work onsite as needed
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD, POLE, LPILE or FAD Tools, and Microsoft Office

Preferred experience:

  • EIT, FE, or PE license
  • Experience with PLS TOWER, Bentley MicroStation, Bentley ProjectWise, Mathcad, AutoCAD
  • Construction management and support experience

Pay Range: $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
