Burns & McDonnell is seeking a staff transmission engineer in Vancouver, WA. You will lead transmission design through all lifecycle stages, using PLS‑CADD and related tools, and work directly with clients to define criteria and resolve challenges.

You will develop design basis, prepare bid materials, perform critical analyses, and mentor junior staff. This full‑time role emphasizes collaboration, accuracy, and delivering safe, codes‑compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited program required with 3+ years of transmission engineering experience.

Responsabilités

• Lead the full lifecycle of transmission design from initial concepts to construction‑ready designs.
• Utilize PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and Tower software for modeling, routing, and clearance evaluations.
• Develop design basis and criteria documents for project execution.
• Coordinate with clients to establish design criteria and resolve technical challenges.
• Prepare specifications, data sheets, and assist with bid evaluations and supplier selections.
• Perform analyses including conductor selection, lightning modeling, and grounding calculations.
• Gather project data, write specifications, and compile reports; ensure QA/QC of deliverables.
• Support business development with technical proposals and cost estimates.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their development.
