Job summary

City of Colorado Springs is seeking a Senior Transit Planner to lead planning, evaluation, and project oversight across regional transit programs. The role involves managing grants, coordinating with consultants, and training staff within the Transit Services Division. A strong background in transit operations and planning is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, transportation planning, public administration, or related field.
• Five years of full-time, professional experience in transportation planning, urban planning, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Prepare in-depth reports and analyses considering operational, capital, and budgetary constraints.
• Research and recommend transit service enhancements based on data, trends, and community needs.
• Support the Division’s Service Change Process—develop, recommend, and implement approved changes.
• Evaluate transit service delivery and lead implementation of strategies for improved efficiency and rider satisfaction.
• Provide oversight and coordination for planning-related projects, including those involving outside consultants or contractors.
• Provide training and direction to assigned staff; support employee development and address performance deficiencies.
• Oversee the full life cycle of federal, state, and local grants, including applications, budgets, revisions, amendments, reporting, and closeouts, ensuring grant compliance.
