Job summary

Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) seeks an experienced Operations Supervisor III to lead daily transit operations at the Oxford location. The role requires coordinating safe, reliable service, managing complex dispatch, rostering, and emergencies, and supervising operators in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will hold a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement, demonstrate strong leadership, and remain composed under pressure while ensuring high-quality customer service

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in transit operations, dispatch, or field supervision.
• Experience managing road supervision and operator responsibilities.
• Experience troubleshooting MDT and AVL systems.
• Experience handling emergencies and complex service situations.
• Experience coaching, evaluating, or training employees.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily transit operations to support safe, reliable, and efficient service.
• Lead scheduling and rostering activities with minimal oversight, adjusting assignments to address staffing levels, service demands, and changes.
• Manage complex dispatch situations, including service interruptions, operator concerns, customer complaints, and emergencies.
• Operate the base radio console and communicate routine and emergency information to vehicle operators.
• Troubleshoot MDT and AVL system issues to minimize service disruptions.
• Perform road supervision and vehicle operator responsibilities independently.
• Monitor operators’ safety compliance and performance with protocols.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, safety concerns, and service issues.
• Coordinate emergency responses and maintain communication with Transit Operations Management.
• Adjust routes, schedules, and vehicle assignments during emergencies or staffing shortages.
• Conduct operator evaluations and provide retraining or coaching.
• Maintain logs and reports of daily operations and incidents.
• Provide customer service and trip scheduling assistance to the public.
