Job summary

Transdev North America seeks a Maintenance Manager in Chula Vista, CA to lead maintenance technicians, supervise operations and coordinate with vendors for timely service. The role ensures fleet availability and regulatory compliance.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, CDL Class B with endorsements preferred, 7+ years in transit maintenance, and 3+ years in supervision. Strong communication and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and airbrake endorsements preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in the maintenance and repair of public transit buses, school buses, or similar transportation fleets.
• 3+ years of supervisory or management experience in a transit maintenance environment.
• Strong knowledge of transit vehicle systems, including CNG, hybrid, or alternative fuel bus fleets preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train and schedule Maintenance Technicians
• Approve priority of maintenance and repairs based on availability of materials and parts and requirements of scheduled operations
• Coordinate and oversee work performed by outside vendors
• Ensure company and client equipment is maintained and operating efficiently
• Manage inventory
• Implement safety policies and procedures for the department per corporate requirements
• Participate in the development and administration of the operational budget
• Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods
• Travel requirement outside of immediate area 10%
• Monitor and improve fleet reliability, preventive maintenance compliance, and road call performance
• Support regulatory compliance requirements associated with public transportation operations, including DOT, CHP, FTA, client, and company standards
• Ensure sufficient fleet availability to meet daily service requirements and contractual performance standards
