Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transit Engineering Business Class Leader in North Carolina to guide the design and delivery of complex transit and multimodal projects. You will lead senior technical teams, mentor staff, and partner with public agencies to advance mobility and safety goals.

As a senior adviser, you will support business development, client engagement, and cross-disciplinary coordination across planning, environmental, and civil engineering domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, or related field.
• Professional Engineering Licensure (NC or ability to achieve within 6 months).
• Must be willing to travel on a routine basis; travel includes NC office visits.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Experience with Federal Transit Administration-funded projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as trusted advisor and primary client liaison with transit agencies and public-sector clients.
• Lead business development and client engagement activities across the transit practice.
• Lead or support capture planning, proposals, scopes, fees, and interview presentations.
• Advise clients on project development and delivery strategies across multiple disciplines.
• Grow the transit practice through client engagement and technical excellence.
• Lead engineering development for transit corridors and multimodal facilities.
• Coordinate technical work across planning, environmental, traffic, structures, and construction.
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, and deliverables.
