Job summary

Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is seeking a Senior Engineer in Charlotte, NC to manage design consultants and complex construction projects, and present at technical and public meetings.

You will prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, RFPs, and bid documents while coordinating with contractors and stakeholders. This role requires strong communication, project management skills, and familiarity with FTA standards.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Civil Engineering or related field with 5+ years progressively responsible experience.
• Registered North Carolina Professional Engineer or reciprocity within 6 months.
• Master's degree preferred and strongly considered for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate design consultants and construction projects from initiation through closeout.
• Represent CATS at technical meetings and public hearings with clear communication.
• Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, RFPs, and bid documents for contracts.
• Support safety culture by reporting concerns per the Agency Safety Plan.
• Apply project controls to analyze schedules and manage scope.
