Job summary

Prolec-GE Waukesha, Inc. seeks a Test Manager to lead the transformer test operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely testing of large power transformers. You will drive production schedules while meeting quality, compliance, and customer requirements.

The role establishes strategic initiatives for operational excellence, lean manufacturing, and test system reliability, providing SME guidance and cross-functional support to improve product quality and customer confidence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing leadership and experience conducting electrical tests.
• Strong knowledge of electricity.
• Preferred: Practical knowledge of HV transformers and/or High Voltage Test Systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for the transformer testing organization, aligning with business objectives and production commitments.
• Develop department leadership and support professional growth of Supervisors, Test Engineers, and Equipment Maintenance staff.
• Set priorities, staffing plans, and capital investment to meet current and future needs.
• Ensure testing operations are safe, efficient, and compliant with customer specs and standards.
• Own safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and continuous improvement objectives.
• Standardize transformer testing processes and improve reliability and performance.
• Serve as technical authority for testing standards and requirements.
• Resolve complex technical and operational issues beyond routine scope.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to improve products and processes.
• Review KPIs and testing data to drive data-driven decisions and improvements.
• Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and digitalization initiatives to improve safety, quality, and throughput.
• Oversee root-cause investigations and corrective actions for failures and quality concerns.
• Lead FAT-related activities and customer-facing technical interactions.
• Support product development with testing requirements and risk mitigation input.
• Interpret contract requirements and standards to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction.
• Oversee equipment reliability and lab capability development.
• Develop budgets and manage resources to meet financial objectives.
• Lead workforce planning and performance management across the testing organization.
• Represent the organization in industry groups when appropriate.
• Maintain awareness of industry trends and transformer standards.
