Job summary

Prolec-GE Waukesha is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to define and implement testing processes for large power transformers in alignment with customer requirements and industry standards. You will serve as a technical expert in electrical power testing, HV techniques, and automated test systems while driving cross-functional improvements.

You will lead test reviews, train technicians, troubleshoot failures, and develop test setups for nonstandard designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with experience in high voltage.
• Five or more years of experience in transformer design or testing, utilities, or electrical test automation.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical test systems and IEEE standards.
• Experience with automated test systems and instrumentation.
• Experience with LabVIEW, PCI, National Instruments systems, Siemens PLCs, control systems, or similar testing technologies.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills.
• Ability to navigate technical ambiguity and develop practical solutions.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information to technical and nontechnical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement transformer testing processes meeting customer and industry requirements.
• Review specifications and testing capabilities to identify gaps and resolve them.
• Lead test reviews and collaborate on corrective actions with engineering and PM.
• Train test technicians and provide technical training to internal and external customers.
• Troubleshoot test failures and product defects using technical and analytical tools.
• Develop electrical calculations and test setups for new transformer designs.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focusing on automation, safety and efficiency.
• Analyze test results and recommend improvements to engineering and manufacturing.
• Serve as a technical resource for diagnostic testing and triangulation.
• Manage capital projects and provide technical support for investments.
• Develop preventive maintenance plans and assist maintenance teams.
• Prepare, certify, and approve test reports while resolving technical issues.
