Job summary

Parametrix, a 100% employee-owned consulting firm, seeks a Senior Traffic Electrical Design Engineer to join the transportation team in the Pacific Northwest. You will lead traffic signal, roadway illumination, and ITS projects across WA and OR, helping grow the TED practice and mentor junior engineers.

This role emphasizes collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, pursuing major infrastructure opportunities, and delivering high-quality, safe, and sustainable transportation solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in traffic signal, roadway illumination, and/or ITS design.
• PE license in WA or OR required.
• Experience with WSDOT, ODOT, or equivalent agency standards.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Experience leading technical tasks and supporting project delivery.
• Ability to track and deliver many concurrent projects.
• Experience with TED-focused project pursuits.
• Interest in mentoring staff and growing into a leadership role.
• Able to attend in-person meetings and site visits in the Pacific Northwest.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver traffic signal, roadway illumination, and ITS design projects.
• Collaborate across offices and regions to strengthen TED technical excellence.
• Support transportation project pursuits, client development, and business growth.
• Mentor and supervise junior engineering staff.
• Coordinate with project managers, roadway engineers, and agency stakeholders.
• Support project delivery for local agency and state DOT transportation improvements.
• Contribute to strategic growth and future leadership of the TED practice in Washington and Oregon.
