Job summary

Iteris seeks multiple experienced Sr. Signal Optimization Engineers to monitor the health and status of over 1,500 VDOT signals in the NoVA District, based in the SOC in Fairfax, VA.

You will analyze traffic data, monitor intersections with cameras, and adjust signal timings within corridors to optimize flow. The role requires 5+ years in transportation engineering, proficiency with Synchro/VISSIM/ATSPM/KITS, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Over five (5) years experience in a Transportation Engineering field.
• Valid Professional Engineer's License is preferred.
• VDOT's computerized traffic signal system: Statewide Central Signal System (KITS).
• Traffic signal optimization and simulation software (Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, etc.).
• Traffic monitoring systems include ATMS (OpenTMS), ATSPM, and RITIS.

Responsibilities

• Analyze traffic data and perform data mining and statistical analysis.
• Monitor intersections with cameras and adjust signal times within the corridor.
• Operate central signal system and demonstrate proficiency with related software.
• Prepare correspondence and technical reports on traffic signal performance.
• Conduct a wide range of traffic engineering analyses.
• Navigate the Northern Virginia District and Northern Region ATMS solutions.
