Job summary

Arcadis in Nashville is seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer to lead operations, safety initiatives, and ITS design across a range of projects. You will perform microsimulation and analyses to inform decisions on traffic flow and capacity, and develop signal timing plans and layouts for control systems.

The role also involves mentoring junior staff, managing project scope, schedule, and budget, and supporting corridor management policies.

Qualifications

• Experience in traffic or transportation engineering.
• Engineering degree or equivalent.
• TN Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 6 months; valid US driver's license.
• Experience with traffic analysis tools and field implementation of traffic signal timing.
• Credentials in traffic/transportation/operations research (e.g., PTOE) are a plus.
• Familiarity with design and traffic analysis software.
• Experience with state or local transportation projects.
• Knowledge of local agency processes and permit requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic operations, safety initiatives, travel demand analysis, and ITS design on a variety of projects.
• Conduct microsimulation and operational analyses to inform decisions (e.g., traffic flow and capacity).
• Develop signal timing plans, input data for centralized and local control systems, and design signing, pavement markings, and ITS layouts.
• Mentor junior staff and manage project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Support operations and maintenance policies and their implementation for integrated corridor management.
