Job summary

Alliant Engineering, Inc. seeks a Senior Traffic/ITS Design Engineer to join the Minneapolis, Minnesota office. You will lead design projects in Minnesota and across the country, applying civil and traffic engineering principles and mentoring staff.

The ideal candidate has a PE license in Minnesota or can obtain it within 6 months, 6+ years in Traffic/ITS, and proficiency with MicroStation/Open Roads/AutoCAD, MnDOT standards, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in MN or able to obtain within 6 months from start of work.
• 6+ years of experience in Traffic/ITS Engineering.
• Proficiency with MicroStation, Open Roads, or AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with MnDOT/ MUTCD standards and related design guidelines.
• Experience leading projects and mentoring staff.

Responsibilities

• Independently apply standard civil and traffic engineering principles and techniques.
• Design traffic engineering elements of infrastructure projects (lighting, signals, signing, markings).
• Perform ITS design elements (fiber, devices, interconnect).
• Identify ITS processes and technology for system design, verification, and testing.
• Prepare traffic and ITS bid packages with plans, specs, and estimates.
• Conduct QA reviews of plans, specs, and estimates.
