Job summary

AECOM seeks a Senior Traffic Engineer in Raleigh, NC to develop and maintain traffic forecasting standards and produce forecasts for highway projects within the State Transportation Improvement Program. The role involves leading complex travel demand analyses and coordinating with external engineering firms.

The successful candidate will join a large, technical team, travel within North Carolina, and contribute to environmental documentation and planning studies while delivering high-quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Eight years of experience in traffic forecasting or equivalent.
• PE license in North Carolina or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience with traffic forecasting software (TransCAD).
• Experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain administrative and technical standards for traffic forecasting.
• Prepare traffic forecasts for highway projects in the State Transportation Improvement Program.
• Produce complex travel demand forecasts including data selection and analysis.
• Estimate current and forecast future traffic volumes.
• Prepare technical reports detailing forecasting processes and decisions.
• Determine and prepare scopes of work for traffic forecasts.
• Monitor progress of work and perform quality control checks.
• Effectively manage assigned projects and schedules.
• Develop new business by fostering client relationships.

Education

Bachelor's in Civil Engineering

Professional Engineering (PE) license in North Carolina

Experience in traffic forecasting

Experience in traffic engineering and/or transportation planning
