Job summary

TKDA is seeking a Senior Professional Engineer / Project Manager in Traffic to lead transportation projects and mentor staff. The role focuses on improving safety and mobility while expanding TKDA’s traffic engineering practice, with a blend of project leadership, technical delivery and client service.

You will collaborate with engineers, designers and technicians on traffic operations, safety studies, design, and related services for state through local agencies, with hybrid in-office and WFH

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in Minnesota or ability to obtain within six months is required.
• Minimum 10 years of traffic engineering or related transportation experience.
• Experience leading traffic design or operations projects with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience managing multiple projects including scope, schedule, budget, staffing and client coordination.
• Mentoring staff and supporting technical development.
• Experience supporting business development through client relationships, opportunities, proposals, interviews, or related activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic engineering projects in design, operations, or both.
• Oversee preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical memoranda and reports.
• Provide technical direction and quality oversight within areas of expertise.
• Develop project work plans, schedules, budgets and staffing plans.
• Manage project delivery and coordinate with clients, agencies and subconsultants.
• Monitor performance and address scope, schedule, budget, and risks.
• Coordinate workloads and priorities across technical staff.
• Direct and coordinate work of engineers, designers and technicians.
• Mentor junior staff and support their professional development.
• Build and maintain relationships with state, county and local agencies and private clients.
• Identify opportunities, support proposal development and client interviews.
• Represent TKDA in client meetings and industry events.
