Job summary

Jacobs’ Nashville Transportation Group is seeking a driven Traffic Engineer to join our team. You will design traffic engineering and design solutions for major infrastructure projects in Tennessee and the Southeast, leading a technical team of engineers and technicians.

You’ll perform traffic signal/ITS design, timing, studies, signing and marking, and coordinate with agencies through local, state, and Federal approvals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 6-10 years of progressive experience in Traffic Engineering, Operations and ITS projects.
• TDOT or Tennessee local agency traffic engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Previous experience with OpenRoads Designer and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to travel locally as needed.

Responsibilities

• Developing and reviewing traffic elements and designs and signing and marking for major projects.
• Performing design, programming, and review of traffic signal and communications equipment and preparing related documentation.
• Assessing the performance of traffic signal operations and preparing recommendations and technical reports.
• Effectively managing assigned projects and tasks while maintaining responsibility for scope, schedule, and quality.
• Managing client expectations to ensure a high level of client satisfaction.
• Mentoring and developing junior staff.
• Supporting business development efforts by fostering existing client relationships and developing new opportunities.
• Periodic travel required throughout Tennessee and neighboring states.
