Job summary

Gateway Engineers is seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer to coordinate projects, perform traffic studies and prepare construction drawings and specifications for public and private projects. You will work with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure compliance with codes and standards.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, and licensure potential. Proficiency in Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D is required.

Qualifications

• Significant experience with traffic studies.
• Proficient in technical writing and report preparation.
• Experience drafting signing and pavement-marking plans.
• Proficiency with Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants, and firm staff.
• Perform engineering calculations and design to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications for public and private projects.
• Assist in the preparation and quality control of plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications for projects.
• Provide project-specific technical information to the Project Manager for incorporation into the project specifications.
• Visit project sites to review conditions as appropriate.
• Maintain and comply with state, federal, and local rules and codes.
• Maintain positive relationships with both internal and external clients.
• Serve as a representative of the Company at meetings, presentations, and public hearings/reviews relative to assigned projects.

Traffic Engineer Responsibilities:

• Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants, and firm staff.
• Perform engineering calculations and design using specialized technical skills, experience, and engineering judgement to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications for public and private projects.
• Assist in the preparation and quality control of plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications for projects.
• Provide project specific technical information to the Project Manager for incorporation into the project specifications.
• Visit project sites to review conditions as appropriate.
• Maintain and comply with state, federal, and local rules and codes.
• Maintain positive relationships with both internal and external clients.
• Serve as a representative of the Company at meetings, presentations, and public hearings/reviews relative to assigned projects.

The ideal Traffic Engineer candidate will have the following experience:

• Signing and pavement marking plans
• Traffic and safety studies
• E&S Design and Drainage
• Technical writing
• Utility Coordination (URMS) and design
• Software: Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D
