Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer in Washington, DC to lead design oversight for roadway infrastructure, traffic signals, and intelligent traffic subsystems. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, efficient mobility solutions.

The role focuses on producing design plans, conducting capacity and warrant analyses, and guiding traffic control strategies during construction to ensure project success and community impact.

Qualifications

• Experience in traffic engineering design and analysis.
• Ability to oversee roadway and traffic signal design elements.
• Familiarity with construction-phase coordination and sequencing.

Responsibilities

• Provide design oversight for roadway, lighting, signing, pavement marking, traffic signals and ITS design plans; intersection design; capacity and signal warrant analyses; and all aspects of an Intelligent Traffic Sub-system.
• Assist in providing oversight of the traffic control and sequencing plans throughout the construction phase of the project.
