Job summary

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers and Architects is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer in Arizona to lead traffic design projects, safety evaluations, and multimodal facility analyses. You will mentor junior staff and collaborate with state and local agencies on design-build opportunities.

The role emphasizes leadership of MOT planning, traffic studies, and development of proposals while maintaining client relationships. Visa sponsorship is not offered, and compensation ranges with experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed PE in Arizona or able to obtain licensure within 3 months.
• PTOE and/or RSP Levels 1 or 2 preferred.
• Minimum 10 years in traffic engineering and design.
• Experience with MUTCD and AASHTO standards.
• Proficiency with CAD, GIS and traffic simulation software.

Responsibilities

• Lead/manage design for intersections, traffic signals, roadway lighting, signing, pavement marking, traffic management systems, and ITS systems.
• Develop MOT and sequencing plans.
• Assist with technical traffic analyses for highways, streets, and multi-modal facilities.
• Assist with traffic safety analyses including Road Safety Audits and design of countermeasures.
• Implement client and internal QA/QC procedures.
• Assist in developing proposals and marketing strategies.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative environment.

Job description

Wilson & Company is seeking a full-time Senior Traffic Engineer to join our Arizona transportation planning and engineering team. This role will serve state and local agency clients and lead traffic design projects, safety evaluations, and multimodal facility analysis. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of project types and sizes, including design-build.

This role could be to serve as a local practice lead, commensurate to experience and skills.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Lead/manage design for intersections, traffic signals, roadway lighting, signing, pavement marking, traffic management systems, and ITS systems.
• Develop maintenance of traffic (MOT) and sequencing plans.
• Assist with technical traffic analyses for highways, streets, and multi-modal facilities.
• Assist with traffic safety analyses, including Road Safety Audits (RSAs), and identification and design of proposed safety countermeasures.
• Implement client and internal QA/QC procedures
• Assist in developing proposals and marketing strategies.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative work environment.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000+, depending on experience.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Arizona or ability to obtain licensure within three months.
• Certification as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) and/or a Road Safety Professional (RSP) Levels 1 or 2 is preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years in traffic engineering and design.
• Experience working with relevant industry standards and guidelines, such as MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) and AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) standards.
• Proficiency using CAD (MicroStation/AutoCAD), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and/or traffic simulation software (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM),
