Job summary

Parsons is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer in Centreville, VA to help design and deliver major transportation projects with a focus on mobility, safety, and reliability. You will work with engineers and technicians to produce traffic plans, studies, and QA/QC per program standards.

The role requires 8+ years in traffic engineering, proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD, and knowledge of HCM, MUTCD, and Warrant studies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
• 8+ years of progressive experience in traffic/transportation engineering.
• MicroStation or AutoCAD proficiency is a must.
• Adept understanding of Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), MUTCD and Signal Warrant studies.
• SYCHRO, HCS, VISSIM and SIDRA expertise is required.
• Knowledge of roadway lighting design including photometric analysis is desirable.
• PE registration is highly preferred.
• PTOE certification is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and produce traffic engineering plans and reports with a team of engineers and technicians.
• Deliver traffic signal design, signing, striping, lighting, and traffic control plans with quantity tabulation.
• Assist with corridor studies, traffic impact studies, alternative intersection design, and traffic operational analyses.
• Provide support for other engineering activities; may supervise subordinates.
• May lead a project or discipline on small to intermediate-size projects.
• Provide input and guidance to CAD Designers, Designers, and engineers on the same project.
• Contribute to QA/QC pursuant to Parsons' quality management plan.

In this role, you will help deliver the design for projects that have a construction value greater than $1 billion, and in turn, assist in enhancing the mobility, safety, and reliability for communities who live along and travel through these critical corridors.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Work with a team of engineers and technicians to design and produce a variety of traffic engineering plans and reports.
• Help to deliver traffic signal design, signing, striping, lighting and traffic control plans along with quantity tabulation.
• Assist with analysis, design and implementation of projects such as corridor studies, traffic impact studies, alternative intersection design, and traffic operational analysis.
• Provide support for other engineering activities as required. May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
• May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate-size project.
• Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
• Take part in Parsons’ quality management plan to implement QA/QC procedures.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
• 8+ years of progressive experience in traffic/transportation engineering.
• MicroStation or AutoCAD proficiency is a must.

Salary Range: $88,400.00 - $154,700.00
