Job summary

Horrocks seeks an experienced Senior Traffic Design Engineer to plan, manage, and deliver complex transportation projects focused on MOT and Signing/Pavement Marking. The role combines technical leadership with project management, guiding teams to meet MUTCD, AASHTO, and agency requirements while serving clients and public agencies.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in traffic design with MOT expertise, a PE license, and strong communication.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
8+ years of professional experience in traffic with a focus on signing and MOT.
Design-Build experience preferred.
Proficiency with MicroStation OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, SignCAD.
Hands-on experience with Synchro/SimTraffic, Vistro, and Vissim.
Experience with DOT agencies is highly preferred.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

Manage and deliver MOT phasing strategies, signing, striping, and traffic control plan sheets for transportation projects.
Serve as technical lead on mid- to large-scale traffic design assignments with quality control and standards compliance.
Prepare and oversee development of studies, technical reports, construction plans, specs, and estimates from concept to delivery.
Coordinate with clients, public agencies, stakeholders, and internal teams to deliver projects.
Manage staff assignments, workloads, mentoring, and resource coordination across traffic disciplines.
