Job summary
Horrocks seeks an experienced Senior Traffic Design Engineer to lead MOT and signing strategies on complex transportation projects. You will manage phasing, detours, and traffic control plans while guiding multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with MUTCD, AASHTO, and agency standards.
Ideal candidates bring PE licensure, 8+ years of related experience, and a track record of delivering high-quality traffic control designs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
- PE license required.
- 8+ years of professional traffic engineering experience focused on signing and MOT.
- Design-Build and alternative delivery experience preferred.
- Proficiency with MicroStation OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, SignCAD or similar.
- Experience with Synchro/SimTraffic, Vistro, and Vissim preferred.
- Strong communication and client relationship management.
- Ability to mentor staff and lead project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Manage MOT phasing, signing, striping, and traffic control plan sheets.
- Lead mid- to large-scale traffic design assignments ensuring QA.
- Prepare studies, technical reports, construction plans, specs, and estimates.
- Coordinate with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Manage staff assignments, workloads, mentoring, and resource coordination.
