Job summary

Spivey Services seeks a Traffic Control Supervisor II to oversee field crews, coordinate complex work zone operations, and ensure VWAPM compliance and safety across projects in Virginia. This mid-level leadership role focuses on advanced decision-making, crew oversight, and professional communication with contractors, inspectors, and management.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in traffic control or construction with at least 2 years in supervision, a Virginia license, and willingness to work

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of traffic control or construction field experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Valid Virginia Driver’s License.
• Ability to read, interpret, and implement traffic control plans independently.
• Experience driving larger trucks (18'–24'), non-CDL.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to work night shifts and travel across regional sites.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Oversee traffic control crews and ensure work zones meet VWAPM and project requirements.
• Conduct daily field audits, verify compliance, and apply corrective actions.
• Perform stationary and mobile lane closures on limited-access highways, ensuring safe setup and breakdown.
• Serve as on-site point of contact for contractors, inspectors, and leadership.
• Review and interpret traffic control plans, ensuring accurate execution by crews.
• Coordinate daily job readiness, staffing, and equipment deployment.
• Adjust work zones in real time for emergencies or changes.
• Provide hands-on training to new employees and supervisors.
• Maintain safety, productivity, and professional standards across teams.
• Participate in onboarding and development of junior supervisors.
• Maintain accurate logs of activities, attendance, safety observations, and incidents.
• Ensure vehicles and equipment are maintained, stocked, and inspected.
