Overview
Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is looking for a Senior Traffic Analysis Engineer to join its Transportation Engineering team in Towson, MD; Rockville, MD; or Raleigh, NC. The role focuses on traffic operations analysis and modeling, with opportunities to work on capacity, safety, planning, and feasibility studies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct traffic operational analysis using a variety of modeling tools.
- Support design solutions and operational improvements through analytical work.
- Perform crash data analysis and safety studies for intersections and corridors.
- Prepare summary tables, sketches, exhibits, and technical reports to communicate findings.
- Tabulate, process, and deliver traffic data collection outputs.
- Conduct on‑site field investigations when required.
- Communicate and collaborate within a team environment.
- Work independently and supervise junior staff.
Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering (BSCE) with 6‑12 years of traffic engineering experience.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) required; Professional Engineer (PE) or PTOE is a plus.
- Strong understanding of traffic analysis concepts and experience with traffic model development.
- Proficiency with Synchro, SimTraffic, Warrants, SIDRA, HCS, and related tools.
- Working knowledge of roadway design principles and familiarity with MUTCD, ITE, FHWA, and AASHTO manuals.
- Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD is a plus.
- Excellent communication, technical writing, and organizational skills; positive attitude and teamwork orientation.
