Job summary

Coinbase is building the future of institutional trading within Everything Exchange. As an Architect on the Trading team, you will design, build, and own core trading systems including OMS/EMS, low-latency messaging, and multi-venue connectivity that serve Retail, Prime, and wholesale clients.

You will drive reliability, performance, and incident response while shaping technical standards and mentoring teams in a high-stakes, regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on architect capable of designing, building, deploying and supporting 24/7 trading systems processing billions of dollars daily.
• Extensive backend engineering with ownership of distributed systems in production.
• End-to-end trading platform experience (OMS/front/middle/back, multi-exchange).
• Proficient in low-latency Java and high-throughput messaging (Aeron, SBE).
• Experience delivering projects end-to-end: scope, architecture, implementation, monitoring, iteration.
• Regulated/financial environment experience emphasizing correctness, auditability, and latency.
• Ability to balance engineering trade-offs with end-user quality.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of the end-to-end trading platform, including OMS/EMS, low-latency connectivity, and multi-venue execution.
• Design low-latency, high-throughput systems for real-time financial products across markets.
• Drive reliability, observability, and incident response for latency-sensitive systems.
• Set technical bar via code reviews and standards, reducing critical debt.
• Mentor teams to build resilient trading infrastructure across services.
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Security, and Compliance to translate vision into roadmap.
