The incumbent will work with senior officials to develop negotiating strategies, draft legal documents, and provide expert guidance on legal issues affecting USTR's trade agenda.

Qualifications

• Advising and counseling senior leaders on complex legal questions requiring extensive research and analysis.
• Preparing legal documents for filing and litigation steps with attention to precedents.
• Drafting or pleading motions and coordinating investigations for facts.
• Experience with trade-related issues, negotiations, and providing legal advice.

Responsibilities

• Pursue trade enforcement actions and represent in international disputes at WTO and FTAs.
• Advise on investigations and dispute settlement, including substantive issues and tactics.
• Develop legal arguments, strategies, and negotiation positions.
• Represent the United States in trade investigations and bilateral/multilateral fora.
• Conduct research on laws, policies, and regulations; advise on policy options.
• Review legislation and assess impact on U.S. trade and economy.
