Job summary

GEODIS in the United States is seeking a Customs Compliance Specialist with at least 5 years of experience. You will provide clients and colleagues with compliant guidance, conduct tariff classification research, and prepare requests for binding rulings from customs authorities.

You will also assist with audits, present findings to clients, and help manage partner relationships. The role requires knowledge of SAP, strong report writing, and able to work independently in a fast-paced logistics

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience or equivalent education/training.
• Customs Broker’s License required.
• Knowledge of brokerage operations and customs regulations.
• Proficient with SAP and MS Office suite.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

Your role on the team:

• Provides customers and employees with custom compliance guidance and advice
• Conducts research on tariff classification, valuation, free trade agreements, customs entry of freight, and agency regulations
• Assists with special projects such as classifying and audits
• Prepares requests in writing binding rulings from customs on behalf of customers
• Presents findings to clients
• Delegates tasks and monitors work

What you need:

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and training
• Customs Broker’s License
• Knowledge of brokerage operations
• Knowledge of customs regulations and other government agency requirements
• Knowledge of SAP
• PC literate to include Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to complete assignments independently
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and co-workers
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Ability to negotiate profitable partner relationships with regional and National logistics clients
