Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) seeks an experienced Topobathymetric Lidar editor to support point cloud editing, processing, and deliverables for hydrographic, coastal, riverine, and inland water mapping projects. You will help develop scalable workflows and lead project execution within the production team.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience processing and analyzing topographic and/or topobathymetric lidar datasets.
  • Understanding of topobathymetric lidar principles.
  • Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap and related geospatial tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong organizational skills for multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Process and classify topobathymetric lidar data; edit points and extract features for terrestrial and submerged environments.
  • Review bathymetric returns, water surface classifications, and bottom detection outputs for accuracy.
  • Generate lidar products: classified point clouds, DEMs, contours, breaklines, hydrographic surfaces.
  • Perform QA/QC checks across the production lifecycle and document findings.
  • Develop and improve standard operating procedures for lidar processing and production.
  • Evaluate new software and methodologies to improve efficiency and data quality.
  • Identify workflow automation opportunities to increase throughput.
  • Deliver internal training on workflows, tools, and classification standards.
  • Coordinate with project management to meet requirements and schedules.
