Job summary

Respawn Entertainment in the Los Angeles area seeks a Tools Developer to design, build and maintain editors, compilers, previewers, debuggers and other tools for our content teams. You will partner with developers, technical artists and content teams to streamline asset creation workflows and improve the tooling stack.

The role requires strong C++ and 3D math abilities, 5+ years building editors and engines, and experience with game engines, toolchains and UI frameworks.

Qualifications

• Strong C++ and 3D math proficiency.
• 5+ years shipping editors, systems or engines for game development with large codebases.
• Experience with level design, art, animation, and content workflows in a game engine.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain editors, compilers, previewers, debuggers and other tools for content teams.
• Collaborate with developers, technical artists and content teams to streamline end-to-end asset creation workflows.
• Maintain and extend content compilation pipelines, including data validation, baking and packaging for runtime use.
• Fix bugs and reduce technical debt across the content tools suite.
• Diagnose and resolve issues reported by content creators and dev support to unblock workflows.
• Translate feedback from content creators into tool improvements.
• Break down development problems into scoped tasks with dependencies and risks.
• Use telemetry to prioritize work and measure impact of changes.
