Job summary

Aptiv is seeking a Tool Maker in Rhode Island to construct and troubleshoot tooling and fixtures for welding, soldering, and assembly. You will study prints, set up CNC and conventional machines, and work with the tool design team to develop new tools.

Qualifications include a HS diploma or GED and at least five years in metal stamping tooling, with strong math, reading, and computer skills. Proficiency in CNC milling is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; or graduation from a technical/trade school.
• Minimum of five (5) years experience as a Tool Maker in a metal stamping environment.
• Must read, write and speak English proficiently.
• Must be proficient with computers.
• Strong basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide with whole numbers, fractions, decimals).

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
• Set up and operate conventional or CNC machine tools to cut, bore, grind, or shape parts.
• Inspect finished dies for smoothness and conformity to specs.
• Assemble dies, jigs, gauges, and tools.
• Conduct test runs and adjust as necessary.
