Job summary
Research Tool & Die Works is seeking a Tool & Die Maker to build and repair custom tools using machining equipment and measuring instruments. You will work from blueprints to produce prototypes, dies, fixtures, and molds, calculating dimensions and tolerances to meet specifications.
You will operate lathes, grinders, mills, saws, and boring machines, and use AutoCAD and Mastercam for design and manufacturing tasks.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent
- Experience with AutoCAD and Mastercam
- Completed apprenticeship or on-the-job training
- 5–7 years machining experience with dies and tooling
- Ability to read shop drawings/blueprints and tolerances
- Proficient with manual lathes, grinders, mills, saws and band saws
Responsibilities
- Support tooling maintenance and identify tooling needs
- Sharpen and repair tooling as needed
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machines to manufacture parts
- Troubleshoot tooling issues for punch presses and other machines
- Safely use hoists to open/close dies
- Create new tooling and dies from designs or blueprints
- Adhere to safety and ethics policies
