Job summary

Worthington Steel, based in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking an experienced Tool and Die Maker to build jigs, fixtures, and dies and to oversee machining through to assembly and try-out. You’ll lead entry and mid-level die makers and participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance safety and quality.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of tool & die experience, strong precision skills, and the ability to coordinate across departments while following SOPs and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• 5+ years tool and die experience.
• Ability to read micrometers, verniers, and dial indicators.
• Understand sequence of machining operations and speed/feeds.
• Safety conscious and able to train others.
• Understanding of metallurgy.

Responsibilities

• Reads advanced assembly drawings and determines priorities.
• Receives all materials and determines the best process to complete the work.
• Grinds all parts to specification for fit up.
• Assembles all components.
• Aligns sections for clearances.
• Dowels all components in place.
• Tries out tool onsite or at user’s facility.
• Involved with continuous improvement efforts.
• Trains and coordinates lower level tool and die.
• Works with Engineers and Operations Manager to determine machining.
• Other duties as assigned.
