Job summary

MacLean-Fogg is seeking a Senior Tool Design Engineer to lead the design and optimization of tooling for manufacturing processes in our facilities. You will mentor junior engineers, train machine operators, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovative tooling solutions.

The role emphasizes quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across production lines. Responsibilities include leading tooling design, managing CAD/BOM documentation, and ensuring 5S and safety

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum 4 years of tooling design experience in manufacturing.
  • Proven mentoring and leadership experience.
  • Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and development of high-performance tooling for manufacturing equipment.
  • Drive tooling enhancements to improve quality, reliability and production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering and QA to solve tooling challenges.
  • Propose and implement cost-effective tooling solutions and modifications.
  • Oversee tool change control to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Create, update and manage CAD drawings, BOMs and documentation.
  • Ensure 5S and safety compliance in the work environment.
  • Mentor junior engineers and machine operators on tooling design and best practices.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Role SummaryThe Senior Tool Design Engineer applies advanced engineering knowledge and technical expertise to design, develop, and optimize tooling systems for manufacturing processes. This pivotal role contributes to enhancing product quality, boosting production efficiency, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Senior Tool Design Engineer is also responsible for mentoring junior engineers, providing training to machine operators, and playing an instrumental role in solving complex tooling challenges.
